Bro. Roger’s 80th Birthday Celebration

On Friday, 20 Mar 09, the whole Boys’ Town community comprising the Brothers of St. Gabriel, staff and alumni members gathered together in joy and thanksgiving to celebrate with Bro. Roger his 80th birthday.

The evening started with a walk down memory lane as all guests were treated to a presentation on Bro. Roger’s life and work in Boys’ Town over the last few decades. The nostalgia that was evoked was in tune with the occasion.

Bro. Roger’s birthday celebration also gave members of the Boys’ Town a wonderful opportunity to meet up and bond with one another. The animated conversations punctuated by periodic peals of laughter and loud exclamations bore testimony to great experience that all had enjoyed. It made the occasion a truly memorable one.

OBA Networking & BBQ Nite

St. Gabriel Secondary’s Old Boys’ Association (OBA) had organised a gathering for all the alumni associations from the Gabrielite institutions on Friday, 24 Apr 09. Four BTA EXCO members accepted their invitation and attended the gathering.

All who had attended the gathering felt that though it had an informal setting, it was meaningful and worthwhile. It had provided alumni members with the realisation that they are part of a larger Gabrielite community in Singapore and beyond.

Founders’ Day Dinner August 2009

Boys’ Town Alumni has been organizing the annual Founders’ Day Dinner all these years. For 2009, it was held on Friday, 14 Aug 09 at Yunnan Garden Restaurant in Fairway Club.

More than 120 old boys and girls attended the dinner and experienced the joy of meeting up with old friends. The busy chatter punctuated by the occasional loud cheers, exchanging of name cards and the photo taking created a real buzz. And the many promises made, among the former students to meet up again, reflected the impact of such events.

The alumni have resolved to organize more of such reunions to strengthen the bonds between old boys and girls for next year and beyond. Do look out for the invitation and make the effort to turn up. It would be as enjoyable and nostalgic as this dinner.

Fellowship Networking cum Bro. Emmanuel’s Birthday Celebration Oct 2009

On Sat, 31 Oct 09, Boys’ Town Alumni organized a celebration of Bro. Emmanuel’s birthday and invited the staff of the other three components, Assumption English School, Assumption Pathway School and Boys’ Town Home to attend and celebrate as a community. The celebration also served as an occasion for the staff to get to know one another and strengthen the community spirit amongst the four components. The programme for the celebration included games and activities where they have to learnt more about each other. It was both enjoyable and hilarious at times.

Each of the components came up with a present for Bro. Emmanuel and it was clear that all of them have a soft spot and great respect for him. The cake that Assumption Pathway School had made for him tasted delicious. The words voiced by Bro. Emmanuel in appreciation and gratitude for the celebration touched all present and provided a fitting end to the occasion.
