CHANGES & EXCITING PROGRAMS

The BTA is going through a change process. Work is now in progress to remake BTA into an organization that is relevant to the environment that exists today.

In order to create a whole new world of endless possibilities for members and the components under the Boys’ Town umbrella, we have identified the following building blocks that are vital:

a) Building and deepening FRIENDSHIP.
b) Building work and business networks for members.

The details below will give you an insight of what you can expect in 2010 and beyond.

Short and Long Term Broad Based Plans

1. Provide platforms for members, through small group get-togethers, for the sharing of personal and family experiences, so that members can learn     from one another.

2. Provide various networking platforms for members to share work experiences, leverage on each other on the professional fronts and to develop     extensive business networks.

3. Tap on the wide professional experiences of members from various professions, to provide guidance to students through career talks, on topics like     entrepreneurship & opportunities in specific industries, provide motivational talks, sharing of personal journeys and lectures on specific topics.

4. To assist the components under the Boys’ Town umbrella to raise funds for its needy students, through scholarships and/or bursaries.

5. To assist the current components under the Boys’ Town umbrella, to raise funds to support its various student programs.

6. In the longer term, to help Boys Town realize the formation of a Trust Fund, where the needy students can be given total and complete assistance,     during their stay in the schools under Boys’ Town, and even after they leave for higher studies, to give them a chance in life.

7. In the longer term, cater to the educational and financal needs of the children of financially challenged BTA members.

Small Group Activites

We would like to encourage & support small group activities for members, especially if you are from the same school year. Such activities will probably have a group size of about 10 to 20 people. It can be a gathering in one of the members’ house, a karaoke session, a get-together in a pub, a bar-be-que, a bowling session or any other such activities. We hope to have at least 1 such event per month.

Large Group Events

This is to provide networking on a larger scale and to allow all the various small groups to come together and be linked up.
May be in a few forms:

-  Homecoming.
- Business Networking Event.
- Founders’ Day Dinner.

Small Business Networking Sessions

This is to allow people in specific business groups that can leverage on each other / partner with each other in business or work to come together and explore possibilities.

Special Interest/ Support Group(S) Set-Up

This will allow SPECIFIC groups with the same interest, from the various "Student Year" groups to come together, allowing the crossing between their respective year groups.

Various informal groups can be formed. Examples:

a) Parenting Group.
b) Motor Bike Enthusiasts Group.
c) Golfing Group.
d) Scuba Diving Group.
e) Bowling Interest Group

These groups can be formed any former student and/or teacher. The BTA Exco will provide a support & facilitation role and would like to use the events to forge closer relationship with the group members.

All these programs need the support of past students and teachers under the Boys’ Town umbrella. We hope that more will come forward to help make this change process and the planned activities as success, and to create endless possibilities for everyone concerned.

We Need You!!TOP
